Georgia here we come!

Nolan made his first big trip to visit Mema (Ryan's mom) and Papa (Ryan's step-dad) in Blakely, Ga this afternoon. Its just an hour and a half car ride, but that takes on a whole new meaning with a newborn. I didn't plan his feedings very well and, after listening to him cry for 20 miles and not being able to pull over, I had to feed him in the parking lot of a Home Depot in Bainbridge, GA (modesty aside, this was still not a great time for either of us.) We had to make a few more 'pacifier placement correction' stops, but after that we finally made it. Of course once we got there, after being awake for half the car trip, Nolan slept for most of the visit but who can really blame him, a car ride of that length is a pretty big deal when you are 6 weeks old! He was able to wake up a few times though and, luckily for me, slept the whole way home. Mema and Papa seemed very happy to visit with Nolan, even if it was for just a few hours. At Nolan's dr's appt last week he weighed 9 lbs 2 oz (at 5 weeks old) and Ryan's mom pointed out that this is what Ryan weighed when he was born! YIKES!

Memorial Day

Nolan's first Memorial Day was this weekend . . . I'm not sure he was aware of that though, it was kind of a run of the mill day for him, my mother (or G as we refer to her) came over, food was made, and we all took turns holding him at the same time that we ate. He did sit quietly in his bouncer for about 10 minutes so that was cause for celebration . . . after lunch G and Nolan took a short nap together.

Ok, we're going to try this out . . .

So I've decided I'm going to try my hand at a blog . . . its a family blog, and, though Ryan is quite distressed that I am doing this on blogspot and not just creating my own site, he may be posting from time to time . . . This is a way for us to update everyone on the goings on in the Johnson household and especially on Nolan. I'm planning to update this pretty frequently and will be posting Nolan's adventures as well as pictures and maybe videos from time to time. But I really have no idea what I'm doing so hopefully you'll bear with me . . . enjoy!
