No new pics . . .

So as some of you know we had a pretty significant house flood a few weeks ago and my memory card reader is currently located somewhere in a POD with most of the rest of my belongings. So, even though I have lots of cute new pictures (Nolan wiht Gracie, Nolan with a sippy cup, etc . . .) I have no way to post them yet . . . Hopefully I'll get some up here soon. For now, I hope everyone is having a great holiday season!

We're all in trouble now . . .

Nolan is doing several new things, two of which are quite concerning to me . . . Hes started to put himself on his hands and knees and move his little bootie back and forth. Apparently he thinks he will be crawling soon . . . He has also started to root around in his little toy box for things. I'm starting to wonder why the baby-proofing has been put off for so long!!

He's trying!

Trying again

I almost fell out of my chair when he did this

Some new foods, sleeping and Ryan's weekend

Nolan is now officially eating lots of new food . . . He started on peas, moved on to bananas (or nanas as we like to call them . . .) then started carrots and most recently pears. Yum. He seems to like them all though he still occasionally makes various faces when eating something (especially peas.) Other than that, no too much new stuff is going on . . . Nolan is sleeping really well in his crib unswaddled which too a little adjusting, but not too much . . . Ryan was out of town last weekend for the Head of the Hooch, a rowing competition in Chatanooga, TN. Nolan and I are hoping we can join him there next year.

First feeding of peas . . . someone's not so sure about them

Eating nanas

One of his most common sleeping positions . . . I can't help but laugh, its amazing he gets any sleep with me laughing and taking pictures all night . . .

Pre-Halloween

Its almost Nolan's first Halloween . . . last weekend we made a trip to the pumpkin patch with G and some friends to pick out pumpkins so Ryan and I could carve pumpkins for the first time since we were children. We got several good pics of Nolan sitting with pumpkins . . .

Our carved jack-o-lanterns . . .

Tonight, Nolan was invited to his first Halloween party, where he went dressed as, you guessed it, a pumpkin . . . There were 3 other babies (triplets that are about 7 months older than Nolan) and I think Nolan enjoyed staring at them though there wasn't much interaction . . .

A trip to see Nana and Papa Harold

Last weekend we took a day trip up to S Georgia to visit Ryan's dad and stepmother (Papa Harold and Nana to Nolan) and then went over to see Ryan's mom and step dad . . . It was a fun filled day for Nolan, who took only a few short naps and (thankfully) slept all the way home (the alternative would have been for him to cry all the way home . . . hes not always a great rider.)

First Friends . . .

Here are a few pictures of Nolan and his friend Gracie. I met Gracie's mom, Erin, several months ago at a mom's group we both attend . . . Nolan and Gracie are a week apart in age and its been lots of fun for us to watch them grow together and talk about all of their firsts . . . Nolan rolled over first, Gracie made razzing noises first, Nolan sat up first and Gracie played peek-a-boo first . . . These pictures were taken about 2 weeks ago, and this was really the first time they seemed interested in each other for any length of time. When they saw each other today there was even more eye contact and smiles, they are just way too cute together, and we are looking forward to more play dates in the future.

6 months . . .

Today (10/17/08) Nolan is 6 months old and we can hardly believe it! It feels like its been longer than 6 months and much shorter than 6 months at the same time . . . Nolan came down with his first cold last week, he woke up last Friday coughing and all stuffed up . . . He still has some remnants but luckily things never got too bad . . . He is also almost fully sitting up on his own. He can do it for several minutes at a time. Of course, the second whoever is watching him turns their head he flops over, but its amazing how much his sitting up has changed in just a week . . . I'm posting some pics of a beach trip we took last weekend. Two friends from my college days in Missouri, Tim and Micki, were vacationing in Destin, FL for the week with their family and some friends so the three of us spent the day with them last Sunday hanging out on the beach.
